Lot 508

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN - US STERLING SOUND ACETATE. Extremely rare 1978 12" single sided metal acetate of the title track from the album; this is an alternate version (Take 28). The acetate plays at 33 1/3 RPM. Printed label states 'STEREO 33RPM DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN TAKE 28 3-30-78 and dated 4/12/78'. On playback, the vocal parts are slightly different, perhaps most noted at 3:08 where the word 'ready' is insert in the line 'I'll be there on time, ready to pay the cost'. The acetate was cut on April 12, 1978 almost two months before the LPs release date. Presented in very fine Ex condition with just a couple of very light and faint surface markings with no lifting/peeling or damage to the aluminum lacquer on the playing surface. Extraordinary.

Both records are in stunning Ex+ or archive quality condition with very few markings of any nature to be found! The distinct lack of spindle markings indicates that this set has been played sparingly, if at all. Complete with booklet in Ex+ condition and protective foam layers. The outer box is in well presented Ex condition with just a little fading to the 'whiteness' on the front with some rather light edgewear as well. A wonderful copy.

What our customers say...

Thank you all very much for your service. My box of books arrived safely on time, as promised and were all well packed. I love them!
Marian Coghlan
Thank you so much, you have both been amazing and it is a pleasure hiring the box from you!
Darren
I had to print an order of service for a funeral at short notice which involved the usual faffing about to get the Word file to print as needed. A nearby chain and an independent place nearby felt the job wasn't worth ...
