John Minton, British 1917-1957- Street scene; watercolour and pastel on paper, signed and dated 32, 16x18cm (unframed)(ARR) Provenance: purchased by the present owner in London in the 1960s Note: This very early example of John Minton’s work was produced when the artist was only sixteen years old. While it is not typical of his later style inspired by French neo-romanticism, it is characteristic of the late 1920s and 1930s. Like slightly later known works from Minton’s student days at St John’s Art School, it shows him experimenting with various styles and techniques. As Frances Spalding has noted, ‘the vigour and confidence with which the composition has been brought into a whole, even at this early stage in his development, is a quality very much to the fore in Minton’s work.’ We are grateful to Dr Frances Spalding for her assistance in cataloguing this work.

What our customers say...

Thank you so much, you have both been amazing and it is a pleasure hiring the box from you!
Darren
I had to print an order of service for a funeral at short notice which involved the usual faffing about to get the Word file to print as needed. A nearby chain and an independent place nearby felt the job wasn't worth ...
Harry
I just had my first business transaction with the franchise owner, Paul Nertney, and wish to inform you that I was delighted with the excellent service that I received from him and his team. They should be congratulated ...
