Print and Promotional Franchises

Specialist franchise Mail Boxes Etc. offers a wide and diverse range of print, promotional and communications services to all types of business and the general public.

Offering so many different services ensures there is great variety in-store every working day. “There’s never a dull moment and you never know what work is coming in next,” quips Colchester-based franchisee Steve Sleigh, who says he loves his working life.

Steve has two stores in Colchester, where he is well known in the local business community. He has received several business awards from the local Chamber and also from Mail Boxes Etc. in recognition of his many franchising achievements.

With an ambition to be his own boss, Steve wanted the back-up and support that comes from being part of a bigger organisation. He says: “I’m thrilled to say that things are going really well.I split my time between the two stores, concentrating on marketing and developing the business while my even staff look after the day to day running.

“It works well because I have very capable and reliable people working for me, who know the business inside out, as well as extremely helpful people working on the head office franchise support team - so I don’t need to worry.”

Mail Boxes Etc. background

Set up in the UK 21 years ago, Mail Boxes Etc. has a network of 140 “one-stop” High Street stores across the UK and Ireland. MBE is now proactively seeking more franchisees to help achieve a network of more than 250 stores over the next eight years.

Franchisees are from all walks of life and recognise the many benefits and advantages of franchising which include training and on-going support from the franchisor and mutual support and help from other franchisees in the network.

No previous experience is required because everything is covered by MBE’s comprehensive training programme, backed by the dedicated head office franchise support team. Some management experience is useful but it is not essential.

Mail Boxes Etc.’s training and support package includes site selection, shop fitting and design, equipment and initial local marketing.Typically, the investment starts from around £60,000 of which up to 70 per cent can usually be financed by one of the leading banks, with whom Mail Boxes Etc. has excellent working relationships.
