Lot 154

Peiping Institute of Fine Arts magazine for 1934-1935; a visa for Vera Alabaster dated 1936; two priced tickets relating to paintings by Vera Alabaster and a small collection of unrelated ephemera re. China including a map, copy of the Yellow Crane Tower Historical Drama; three Chinese softback books re. paintings and drawings, etc. The artist, Vera Alabaster was Russian born (St Petersburg, 1889), studied in Italy and Germany, spent some time in China (see following lots 155 to 158) and lived latterly in Kirkcudbright. She died in 1964.
