The initiative began during the first Covid lockdown.
Founder Sharron Wilkinson worked with a Huddersfield-based care home to find a way of reaching residents who had been cut off from family and friends.
That first idea later developed into Give…A Few Words CIC, which was established in March 2021.
By 2026, volunteers are writing from across the UK and overseas. Their letters help remind people that they are remembered, valued and less alone.

The new pillar box at the Queen Street centre gives volunteers and supporters somewhere convenient to drop off letters.
